ArcelorMittal Belgium comprises of 5 different sites with 5.000 employees in total, and some 1.300 external workers. Today, its Belgium facilities encompass Flat Carbon Steel operations, as well as state-of-the-art research centers, in Gent and Liège. The shipments of its 5 facilities located in Gent, Genk, Geel, Liège are in total app. 6 million tons per year.
The team members of the ArcelorMittal innovation team are based at the site in Gent, responsible for coordinating the project. The team consists of engineers that are experienced in managing innovative, and specifically CO2 related projects. ArcelorMittal Belgium has its own engineering team (+100 FTEs) that manages the design, purchase and realization of new installations and handle changes on existing equipment.
