Funzionano AS is a green high tech, equity-based scale up company offering Global Green Sustainable solutions to leading technology and material providers worldwide within Flame retardants, Water-repellent & barrier materials, and Antifouling solutions. Since 2015, Funzionano has been focusing on developing new hybrid particles and chemical building blocks to provide a disruptive solution to achieve the most common properties required in plastics, coatings, and construction materials today.

FunzioNano®-POSS (Polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes) have been developed by SINTEF in close collaboration with various companies since 2002 with more than 10 million Euro spent on R&D and product development, funded by the Research Council of Norway, the Framework Programmes of the European Union, and other sources. We are a team of chemistry and business experts in POSS-technology and flame retardants for the PVC and polymer industry, with over 20 years’ experience in the sector. Our first product to market is an environmentally sustainable flame-retardant for thermoplastics and coatings (D-PYRE®). In the GENESIS-project Funzionano AS optimize and upscale FunzioNano®-POSS materials relevant to the production of IPOSS membranes at the required level. The optimization phase will contribute to the establishment of a robust production facility for hybrid membrane synthesis and new applications for better sustainability, reduced CO2 footprint and reduced use of scarce resources.
