We are uniquely positioned to collaborate closely with customers to customize our hybrid silicon structures to achieve compatibility with their systems while attributing flame retardant properties, improved hydrophobicity and/or gas barrier properties. Our technology allows us to make a wide range of different FunzioNano®-POSS (Polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes), which can be custom-made to fulfil customer needs and requirements.
We can deliver a silicon core with organic surface functionality, which gives a material completely compatible with customer products. This forms a unique method to deliver silicon to your system. We can supply material for solvent free, water based and solvent based applications alike, enabling us to support the full spectrum of customer requirements from decorative paint to PVC plastics.
We have a well-equipped lab and pilot scale facility, where we can make synthesis in reactor vessels from 100 ml up to 30 litres.
In the GENESIS project Funzionano AS has worked closely together with SINTEF developing and upscaling the hybrid organic inorganic nanostructures based on FunzioNano®-POSS, using our patented 2-step procedure. These POSS materials were designed according to our project partners’ needs for their making and testing of the membranes. Funzionano’s focus has been on adopting and adjusting the synthesis methods to allow a cost-efficient production at large scale.
